INTRUDER CONCEPT
Desengrammation is an osteopathic tool developed by Jean-Philippe FOISSY D.O.
He hypothesized that all diseases are linked to the intrusion of an element that causes an energetic imbalance, and that the primary brain acts as a "sentinel," capable of establishing protective barriers against such intrusions, detecting them, and eliminating the residual traces stored in memory.

What we commonly call disease is actually a set of symptoms resulting from the body’s inability to process or metabolize information from an ever-changing environment.

These stressors, which may be endogenous (tissue inertia, biochemical imbalances, fluid stasis, organic disturbances...), exogenous (dietary, viral, bacterial, parasitic, toxic...), traumatic, emotional, or even hereditary, are perceived by the organism as intrusions. These are then stored in memory (engramming): this is the concept of the Intruder, a real "software bug" that disrupts the system.

The primary brain, responsible for managing the body’s chemical, metabolic, hormonal, and emotional functions, adapts to both internal and external information by producing a physiological response to maintain dynamic balance (allostasis).
When the Intruder creates a "bug," the response becomes inadequate, disrupting this dynamic balance.
Once the Intruder is identified and cleared, the body is freed from its constraints, and its adaptive capacities are reactivated, allowing health to be restored.

The concept of energetic blockage:

This concept is closely related to Hans Selye's work on stress, which he defined as "the set of physiological and psychological mechanisms activated by an individual to adapt to an event."

Environmental forces induce changes and adaptations across all dimensions of living beings, from the cell to the whole organism, to prevent physiological dysfunction and maintain harmony with the environment.

When the Intruder interacts with the system, it induces stress. Up to a certain threshold, this information can be absorbed. The system reacts to dissipate the effects of the stimulus energy.
However, if the stimulus is too intense (acute stress) or lasts too long (chronic stress), the threshold of tolerance is exceeded.

Acute stress is linked to a sudden environmental change. The physiological response is immediate and intense, providing the energy required for a rapid defense.
Normally, the altered physiological state dissipates shortly after the stressor ends. However, depending on energetic status, genetics, general health, lifestyle, and stimulus intensity, the energy depletion caused by the excessive use of glucose and glycogen to initiate defense reactions may be too great. This endangers the organism’s balance.

The primary brain then creates a protective barrier (blockage) for the body or the affected structure. The form adapts to maintain life, and a new behavior emerges (symptom).
In cases of chronic stress, the stimulus is repetitive and/or prolonged. Selye refers to this as the general adaptation syndrome. The response to the Intruders (stress agents) changes, no longer matching the initial intensity of the stimulus. Energy reserves become depleted, endangering the system, and the primary brain creates a protective barrier. Jean-Philippe Foissy refers to this as saturation.
How it works in practice :

We need to focus the attention of the primary brain to create a state of receptivity in order to test various elements, identify the Intruder, and initiate the desengrammation procedure.

To do this, we primarily use three types of tests:
-
Test vials, which contain the substance (a food item, a chemical product, a medication…), the tissue (an anatomical structure), or the informational imprint of the element to be tested (homeopathy, optical transfer), and are placed in direct contact with the patient.
-
Visualization/Mentalization of the elements to be tested.
-
Chinese energy meridians, which serve as diagnostic tools and are tested specifically based on the patient’s history.
During our “investigation,” if the tested Intruder is rejected, there will be a tissue shutdown that we primarily perceive at the level of the cranium and sacrum. We feel a strong tension in the tissues, a kind of craniosacral blockage.

If the body has difficulty accepting the tested element, we feel a tension, a sort of slowdown in tissue mobility. Conversely, if the tested element is positive, we perceive a kind of ease, felt as an acceleration.

It is also through the cranium and sacrum that we initiate the desengrammation procedure.
This procedure is almost mathematical. When the intruder is found, a very specific sequence of movements begins at the level of the cranium and sacrum. We count this sequence and are thus able to quantify the level of “blockage” and track the progress of the release as the procedure unfolds. This also allows us to precisely monitor the evolution from one session to the next.
For those who have never experienced Desengrammation or have only vaguely heard of it, the method developed by Jean-Philippe FOISSY may seem unusual—just like STILL's osteopathy at its beginnings, SUTHERLAND's cranial approach, and the work of many other pioneers in their respective fields.

One might ask: is Desengrammation really osteopathy?

Similar questions were raised about the "special" practice of Robert FULFORD, D.O.
Zacharie COMEAUX, in his book Osteopathy and the Medicine of the Future, recounts his remarks on the subject. To the question: "Is it really necessary to be an osteopath to do this? It doesn't seem very osteopathic," he answered: "If I wasn't an osteopath, how would I know what to do?"

Desengrammation appears to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Fulford. He used crystals in treatment, tested products using kinesiology, and was influenced by Randolph STONE, D.O., with his integrated meridian energy approach, which viewed dysfunction and disease states as the result of blocked energy flow; and by Candace PERT, Ph.D., through her research on the biology of emotions.
Robert FULFORD, a direct student of SUTHERLAND, was a member (and former president) of the Cranial Academy, and his bedside book was A.T. STILL’s Philosophy and Mechanical Principles.
In Desengrammation, we use test vials, meridians, and the concept of energetic obstruction. We address emotional and traumatic blockages by releasing their physical consequences. We support the body’s ability to adapt to its environment, relying on anatomical and physiological knowledge and in alignment with osteopathic philosophy.

Yes, Desengrammation has its place.
