I first met Jean-Philippe FOISSY at the end of 2011, during dissection sessions I was leading for the Collège Ostéopathique Sutherland, alongside another osteopath, Yves LIGNON, who had invited him as an observer.

During our lunches, Yves and Jean-Philippe shared many memories and anecdotes from the early days of osteopathy in France, while also engaging in deep discussions on osteopathic philosophy. It was during these exchanges that I first discovered disengrammation.

The concept immediately caught my attention. The fact that Yves LIGNON – from whom I had learned so much – held such profound respect for Jean-Philippe and his practice only reinforced my interest.

At that time, I was becoming increasingly disillusioned with my practice. The patients I was seeing, the results I was getting – none of it aligned with the vision of osteopathy I had drawn from STILL. I felt trapped in a routine: low back pain, neuralgias, torticollis, and other musculoskeletal issues… Despite all the training I had accumulated, I had the feeling I was going in circles.

Through Jean-Philippe’s explanations, I glimpsed a much broader therapeutic field, one that resonated with the philosophy I had been searching for in the founding texts.

I first wanted to experience it myself, as a patient. Thanks to his treatments, I was able to free myself from problems I had carried for years, despite having consulted various therapists and osteopathic approaches. I later observed him in practice and was struck by the effectiveness and depth of this tool on many patients.

I then signed up for the next training, and in October 2012, I was initiated into disengrammation. For the first time, I knew exactly what I was doing during treatments, and I knew precisely when to stop. The testing was rigorous, guided by a clear and reliable response from the primary brain. And above all, the therapeutic possibilities seemed limitless.

Since that day, I have practiced only disengrammation. I continued to deepen my understanding, trained further with Jean-Philippe, and assisted him during seminars, until his passing in March 2024.
